HISTORY OF THE VESSEL
The Sol Maria captain, Réal, has more than 20 years of experience sailing around the world.
Sol Maria is his third sailing vessel. He owned precedently Saint-Soleil, a monohull 28 footer and Marfil, a monohull 44 footer. So he has lot of experience in sailing and in maintaining a sailing boat.
The Sol Maria first and only other owner has been Star Voyage in Martinique. Valenza was the vessel’s name at this time. She has been delivered to Guadeloupe by a mothership from France in Augut 2001 and has been used as a charter boat with a professional skipper for 3 years.
My wife and I bought her in Martinique in December 2004 and we fully equipped her for a world around sailing trip in St-Martin in June-July 2005.
We sailed in the Antilles from December 2004 to April 2006 and crossed the Atlantic in May 2006 to Gibraltar.
We sailed in the Mediterranean Sea from May to November 2006 (Baleares, Corsica, Italia, Greece, Malta, Sicilia and back to Gibraltar).
In 2007, we sailed to Canarias islands and Cape Verde before crossing again the Atlantic to reach Trinidad in May 2007. Afterwards, we sailed from Trinidad to Panama via Venezuela, Bonaire and Curacao. We crossed the Panama Canal in March 2008 and reached New Zealand in November 2008 via Galapagos, Marquesas, Society islands, Cook, Tonga and Fiji.
Our navigation program from May to November 2009 includes Fiji, Vanuatu, New-Caledonia and Australia.
